Pet Spirit Urn Wood Fired Ceramic Small Dog Urn or Cat Urn
Wood fired spirit urn by Brenda Werner, Malloryville Pottery, for a smaller pet. This urn is a 2 cup volume.
A spirit urn is created by placing urns among ferns, moss, lichen, wood shavings, and other natural materials in a wood-fired barrel kiln.
Once the kiln is lit, smoke and flame react with the natural materials to produce unique and unpredictable patterns on the surface of each urn. The kiln heats and smokes for several days before it can be opened.
This urn has some pink and burgundy tones, and smokey grey and black throughout. There is a negative imprint of a sensitive fern on the side, and other nebulous patterns. There is a natural shell on the lid.
I seal the outside with bees wax to enhance the patterns; no glaze is used. As a result, his vessel is not meant for liquids or foods.
The spirit of a beloved pet is ready to inhabit each of these very special urns.
The size of this urn will hold about 2 cups of cremains, suitable for a pet who had a healthy weight in life of up to 25 lbs.
