Stoneware leaf garden sculpture for a pet memorial garden by Brenda Werner, Malloryville Pottery.

This natural form bird bath leaf sculpture was formed after a live leaf found locally, and measures 13 1/2" long by 9 1/2" wide. Each leaf I create is unique, with a different leaf used for each along with hand sculpting and glaze variations.

Crafted from a high fire warm terra cotta toned stoneware clay, the leaf is sturdy for outdoor use as a birdbath or garden focal point for a pet memorial location.

The glaze on this piece is a wonderfully glossy and variegated spruce green. There are also subtle tones of burgundy-brown, and both light and darker greens.

The edges of the leaf ripple upwards slightly, enough to capture falling rain for visiting birds, dragonflies, or toads. Create a memorial garden with this leaf as a focal point, either at a pet burial site or where ashes have been spread in a favored location.  Nestle this leaf among grass or ground cover, place among a collection of stones, or place it upon a pedestal such as an iron stand or cut tree stump.
